Looking Forward to a Great Year!

Dear AMAZING WES Middle School Families and Students,

We are about to embark on a new school year that truly feels different than any school year before.  We are writing to you in hopes that we can ease the transition and address any questions or concerns you may have. Our hope is that we get to continue face-to-face instruction safely for the entire school year.  However, if that does not work out then we hope to start building strong parent/teacher relationships and open communication from the beginning to help ease yet another transition.

What you need to know for the first day:

  • Students will spend the first day in their homeroom classroom/cohort.
  • Cohorts are no larger than 16 students (most are 10-12 students at this time)
  • Temperature checks given upon arrival and throughout the day
  • Desks are placed  6 ft. apart
  • Cohorts will remain together all day (no mixing with other grade levels or cohorts)
  • Bathrooms and classrooms will be regularly sanitized throughout the day.
  • Only 40 students can eat in the cafeteria following social distance guidelines. Mondays and Wednesdays the Green Cohorts will eat in the cafeteria. Tuesdays and Thursdays the Gold Cohorts will eat in the cafeteria. Fridays will switch weekly. On off days cohorts will eat in the classroom.
  • Only one student (6-8) will use the restroom at a time.
  • Students must use hand sanitizer before entering each room (including bathroom)
  • Masks are mandatory
  • Bring a water bottle (drinking fountains are turned off) We have water bottles to give out in case
  • Start time 8:45 (staff will be on campus starting at 7:30 to safely monitor students)
  • End time 2:15 (SAFE will be open)
  • Students will not use lockers at this time. Backpacks are necessary

We will be practicing all the new procedures in order to maintain safety during the first week of school. Homework will be limited during the first few weeks of school. Please look for information on how to stay connected and in contact with your child’s teacher the first day. Again, communication and feedback is so important from parents. We understand that this is a lot to take in. However, we feel so fortunate to have students coming back on campus to learn. We’ve missed seeing them so much! The full distance learning option under the direction of Ms. Hall is available upon request, please call the office if you are interested. 938-2715

Looking forward to a great first day!
