The Weed Elementary School Art Program, newly established this 2024/2025 school year, is made possible by California Prop 28 Arts and Music in Schools funding. The vision of Weed Elementary’s Art Program is for all students to feel confident in their ability to create and express themselves through art. Utilizing the “Arts Attack” program, TK through 5th grade students are taught the elements of art and exposed to a variety of art media, materials, and history. Lessons include instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, design, and an introduction to music and theater. In fall, Students prepare and perform a holiday program at the College of the Siskiyous Ford Theatre. In spring, Weed Elementary hosts a Student Art Show displaying student artwork in conjunction with Open House. Students assemble portfolios of their artwork to bring home at the culmination of the school year. 

Weed Elementary’s English Language Development program serves all students who speak more than one language, in addition to English, as noted during school registration. These students receive specialized instruction to support their development and use of the English language. Small group and individual personalized instruction, aligned with our reading program, ensures that these students achieve mastery of the English language to succeed at their grade level.

Rachel has a BA in Liberal Studies from Simpson University, a California Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential, and a Supplementary Authorization in English. She has 16 years of elementary teaching experience, all at Weed Elementary School.
